    Very Impressive

Had the opportunity to see A Christmas Carole show again at the Alhambra Dinner Theatre under new management as of Dec 09.

By far a night and day difference, other than the structure being the same on the outside, the inside decor, bar, show, atmosphere and buffet style food on stage by one of Jacksonvilles best-known restaurateurs Matthew Medure, the entirety was awesome to say the least.

Hats off to the new owner Craig Smith/Theatre Partners and Booth who will continue to produce the plays and musicals.

We plan on frequenting the ALHAMBRA for every new show.

Many thanks for a job well done preserving a memorable tradition in the Oldest Dinner Theatre in the US.

I give it 2 stars for the show, which is usually entertaining but not spectacular. The show part of it is worth more than 2 stars (usually about 3, sometimes 4). But the food at zero stars averages to two total.

I just saw Forever Plaid, which was funny but short at about 90 minutes. The show continued through intermission, which really wasn't an intermission at all since the show was still going on. It was just a time to bring the lights up and serve drinks to make a little more money.

The food at Alhambra, and I cannot stress this enough, is horrid. As an example, the rice last night had UNCOOKED rice throughout. I'm just hoping I didn't chip a tooth. I put the plate to the side, went back to try more and it was the same. I tried the potatoes and one of them was raw while others were overcooked and couldn't even be bit into because they were so tough. (I have no idea how they even managed to do that.) The peas were unedible, just a pile of mush, literally. They ran out of bread. There was some sort of broccoli dish that almost every person who went by stuck the spoon in, looked at it, then didn't get any. We asked one of the people tending the buffet what the broccoli thing was and she did the same thing - kind of stirred it around, looked dazed, and said she had no idea.

The wait staff try really hard and are almost annoyingly attentive. But the food. Oh goodness gracious, the food is disgusting. I would encourage Alhambra just to cater it all out and not try anymore to cook it themselves. In the 1980's, the food was great. They changed everything and now it just simply stinks.

We have season tickets and it's usually bad, but last night was a new low.

There are almost no vegetarian options. Virtually everything has some sort of meat or seafood product mixed into it. Healthy, it is not.

The owner gets up all the time and apologizes and talks about the economy. One time this year, at the Patsy Cline "special," the actors asked for donations at the end. I understood why (one of the cast members died) but it's just a little odd. It was a decent show with a depressing ending. Just what I wanted to hear at Valentines.

We saw Annie, I LOVED The Orphans!! They were so funny and stole the show. we went on the night the Red team preformed, so hats off to Kelsey Renaldo, Casandra Blickley, Jackie Jones, Kaila Justice, Amber Waterman, and Abby Davey!!! I wish the kids were out more. OK as for the food, yes it is not 5 star, but I appreciate they put more attention on the show.
