I ordered a wing appetizer, General Tso's chicken, and beef and broccoli from the lunch menu. The beef tasted as if soaked in vinegar and baking soda. General Tso's chicken was grey and sweaty meat balls; no sign of red pepper flakes or honey sweetened sauce. The lunch menu included an egg roll, crab ragoon, and choice of soup and fried rice. Egg rolls were gummy. I tasted the egg drop soup it tasted as though it had been made with a 10 year old yard rooster as a base and was loaded with oil; though the won ton soup faired better. The fried chicken wings tasted liked old cooking oil. The food was simply horrible, unrecognizable, and uneatable! It was all discarded at a tune of approximately $17.95. Though this is not a great deal of money, it was money that was presented in good faith, and the hope of typical Chinese cuisine. The receptionist was not familiar with the menu, and the cook was observed loitering in the reception area. As I waited on my order, I was accosted by a "Cock roach" who tried to crawl onto me. The grass was about a foot high in the parking lot, and it was difficult to determine if the restaurant was even in business; tattered outdoor furnishings, a dingy lobby with a tattered black leather sofa. The health department should not allow this owner to stay in business. Horrendous! One star is far too generous. Never had Chinese food this bad! How can it be made better? Don't waste the customerâs time or money with bad business practices. Give folks a reason to want to return: fumigate it, get rid of the damaged decor inside and out, ensure parking lot and landscape are maintained and hire a chef or master cook who is competent. Owners and management should take an invested interest in ensuring that the staff is properly trained in providing legitimate Chinese cuisine that is pleasing to the eye and the palette. Ensure the staff is familiar with the menu, and able to accurately answer customer questions.
Favorite Sit Down Chinese: This is my favorite sit down chinese restaurant in town. All food is cooked ot order so it's always hot. An dyou get large portions. It's not overly expensive or too formal. The service is nice and courteous. It is a clean place. I always recommend this as the chinese place to eat if you wnt to sit down. I have never been disappointed, even when trying new dishes.
Ambiance and Service: They have the best Peking Duck I have ever had. The skin is very crispy, but the meat is not dry. I've been probabally 10 times, and I've gotten the duck probabally 7 or 8. The menu is mixed with the normal, typical stuff, and some fairly authentic things. Prices are good with the typical stuff, but in line with the better asian resturants if you want the authentic stuff. Many menu items for around $7-9. Crispy duck is $14, and the Peking duck that I love is $22 (it's enough for 2 (a full duck), and includes tortillias, rice and the vegetables that go in the roll ups, not to mention a plum sauce... I want to go now)
I usually go with a fiarly big group, so we get the flaming pu pu, which is a sampler of several of the apatisers (Spring Rolls, Wings, Ribs, Shrimp Toast, Crab Rangoon, Beef Satay). It's big, but expensive for an apitiser ($8 I think). Other apatisers are normal priced.
The last 2 times I have gone, they gave me a $5 gift certificate. I think they are starting to recogonize me cause I usually leave very happy and tip fairly well.
A great atmosphere, they have fish tanks with exotic fish, fountins and lots of plants. It's worth going once just to see the interior.
