The apartment we lived in was an upstairs unit and at first it was great! It's a wonderful location 2 minutes away from everything, then winter came and our whole place smelled like an ash tray. Apprently the people downstairs started to smoke inside and it was making OUR place smell like an ash tray. We called the landlord several times and requested they figure the problem out and fix it to no avail. They told us several times that they could not stop the residents downstairs from smoking in their own home... that's all fine and dandy with me if they want to kill themselves down there, but I SHOULD NOT have to live this way if I don't smoke. I kept on telling them I wasn't trying to make them quit, I just wanted to keep the smell from coming up to us, but they just didn't seem to get it. We eventually narrowed it down to our bathroom and keep the door shut at all times. We litterally have to hold our breath to go pee or else we'll suffocate! We won't be signing another lease with this company again. I can't take the risk of having another neighbor who smokes and them not fixing the problem.
