I can not tell you how amazing this place is. My family and I have been going here for the past ten years and have never had a bad experience. I do not understand what other reviewers are saying about grease because we have never had a problem. The waitresses are out of this world and will do anything to help. My personal favorite is the fried shrimp. It is not overly greasy and is absolutely amazing. Also be sure and try the potato salad it is out of this world.
Overall it is a great value for the money. And if wondering it really is worth it to change your meal from a basket to a dinner as you get so much more for the money.
the food and service was great.we will always stop there when we go to st. george
We were not happy with the quality of food or service. The waitress was unable to tell us if the food contained MSG (monosodium glutamate) or not, and did not seem to care. She answered with a flippant "probably" without seeming to understand exactly what we were looking for; but finally turned around without a word and disappeared into the kitchen and eventually returned with the "chef", who could not give a definite answer either. We were advised that a burger might be safe, and to avoid anything with Cajun seasoning, which we already knew from past experiences. Not wanting a burger from a seafood restaurant, I ordered one of the evening's specials: Caesar Salad and Seafood Chowder, and expressed an interest in Grilled Shrimp on top of my Caesar Salad, the waitress was unable to tell me what seasonings the shrimp were prepared with. I love shrimp and decided to go ahead with it. Big mistake, I was sorely disappointed as the texture of the shrimp seemed to indicate it was boiled rather than grilled, and had almost no taste except for something like Oregano, which I don't like, and doesn't belong on shrimp anyway, you need to save the oregano for your spaghetti dinner! The seafood chowder was greasy, thin and unappetizing, the oysters rubbery and the same tasteless shrimp, the scallops being the only edible part even though I normally don't like scallops. My husband ordered french fries without the seasoning salt, but they "tossed them" anyway and had to make a new batch, which finally arrived after he had finished his entree. Needless to say, we will not be stopping in Apalachicola again, but will continue on to Port St Joe and our all-time favorite seafood place, Half Shells on Reid Avenue at Second.
