I recently got engaged at The Owl. Not only was it the most memorable night of my life thus far, the food was amazing and the wait staff top notch. I am looking forward to my next trip to the Cape so we can dine at The Owl again. I recommend this to anyone traveling through the area.
Based on the above reviews we decided to try the Owl Cafe instead of the establishment around the corner that we LOVED last year. The place was clean and the wait-staff was friendly but that was the only good part. The food would have been acceptable at best at half the price, but at $70 for 2 people (without a drop of liquor) we were left sorely disappointed.
The other point of frustration came before we walked through the door. We arrived at 5:25 (they open at 5:30 and the door was unlocked), on a HOT summer day with 2 babies in tow and were promptly told we would have to wait outside for about 10 minutes till they opened. This didn't exactly pre-sour our expectations but a little bit of southern hospitality would have been appreciated.
Sorry, we won't be visiting The Owl till it's a cold day in July. Eat at Tamara's Cafe, much better food at much cheaper prices.
Love The owl, its not a chain restaurant or like all the others, thats why its "THE OWL". All the dressings are homemade like everything else they serve, bread, sauces, desserts. If you know Apalachicola and know your oysters then you will know that they do not usually produce "Giant Oysters" and they are not advertised as such, its usually the attraction of the perfect 3 inch oyster that is appreciated and of course thoroughly enjoyed by most. Apalachicola is the oyster capital of the world, just ask any local, its not for the size but for the pure perfection of flavor.Oh and the green garlic ranch?? ...ITs delicious, if I want plain ole ranch then I will stay at home...
