I've only been to three different waterparks as of now, but Shipwreck Island is definitely my favorite of them all so far, and not just because I've been going to it for over 20 years. The only attraction I don't like at it are the mats. Everything else is great, and they have built new things at it in the past several years to make it even better. The lazy river (sit back and relax!), skull island (just go swimming or go into one of the many caves or underneath a big mushroom waterfall to get drenched!), the speed slide, and the wavepool have always been great and remain unchanged, but around 1994 they added Tree Top Drop, which is taller than all the trees in the park (it gets sort of scary when you're waiting in line and the wind's blowing and the whole thing is literally shaking some) and houses two different slides, one a "free fall" which is almost a straight down drop, and the other (which I actually prefer, even though I love both) a fast, twisting, enclosed waterslide with a steep drop or two itself! Then earlier this century they added a sort of "family ride" as we call it, which is right beside the classic speed slide which is in the real tall thing you see close to the wavepool. Up to four people can get on this at one time in a big innertube and ride down a fast slide with fun twists. Oh yeah, can't forget my all-time favorite, the Raging Rapids, where you sit on an innertube and go down a lot of fun ramps and sometimes get stuck underneath waterfalls, which can be humorous. And for parents looking to carry their kids to someplace fun, Shipwreck Island is great for that too. I think 48" is the height requirement for all the waterslides and other things like Raging Rapids, but they have a big place called Tadpole Hole where there are a lot of small slides, a swimming area that's all shallow water, and even some water guns that you can use to drench people you don't even know, which I'll never forget. If you like waterparks at all, go here without thinking twice! In the offseason you can go to Shipwreck Island and not even have to wait in any lines, which is the best.

My kids and I were very disappointed in this park. We finally found it and they were not even open, even after advertising on spring break websites!

FUN FUN FUN! They have rides for both young and old and even have a play area for the babies. It was awesome, we went twice over the summer. Once for a navy picnic and then we went back again for some more fun...LOL
