    A gem in Lynn Haven...

Yacht Club isn't well known and it feels like any other local watering hole. Emphasis on LOCAL! Tourists don't venture here, this place is frequented by Joe Six pack who doesn't want to drive to the beach to have a good time.

The place is sectioned off into three areas: The main bar room in the middle, the karaoke area, and the gaming area. The division isn't much more than an obstacle or two in the way from getting to one part or the other but it helps on Karaoke night if you don't want to be fully exposed to Karaoke while your playing darts. The drinks are very well priced and the jukebox is one of the new download and play type that has everything ever recorded in the western hemisphere. Even if there isn't karaoke (weekends only) the music isn't overpowering and nu metal / loud and fast rock is the exception not the norm. You're more likely to hear decent country, 80s, classic rock, soft rock, and some 70s mixed in here and there.

The actual bar itself is pretty small but thats okay since theres a good selection of tables. Groups / couples drinking in the main area are quiet and docile so you don't have to worry about random idiots trying to pick fights (something I can't say about other places on the beach, I'm looking at you Club la Vela!)

The beer selection is standard and the drinks are mixed well but nothing dynamic. Your best bet for getting hammered feasibly is whiskey and beer. I've left the place trashed without spending over $40 and that was for about 15 beers and 7 shots and a 20% tip; thank god for bottom shelf whiskey.

The karaoke audience is inviting and you won't need much liquid courage to hum a few bars. I myself bellowed out some Johnny Cash and Eddie Money to a good applause for a mediocre performance. A few people there are actually pretty good and one woman in particular there had the pipes to play Mariah Carrey convincingly.

Since the place is local to the bone theres never an influx of customers and the same people tend to show up at the same days of the week. Some I've seen before, some I haven't, I'm not a true local since I love on the beach and haven't called the east side of PC my home in over 13 years. I have sauntered in there since some of my old friends from high school live close by and they tend to give you a free drink if you're military (almost always a miller or whatever you order first I find).

Oh, and for all the yuppies out there this place is casual. Don't brink your skipper hat, blue blazer and dickie unless they're having a Halloween party. You'll also notice you can't anchor your yacht anywhere since its miles from any body of water.

A GREAT PLACE TO GO BECAUSE YOU SEE LOCALS AND YOU CAN ACTUALLY SPEND THE EVENING AND THE DRINKS ARE REASONABLY PRICED.
    DONNA
