Terrific Vacation Resort: This Hilton is the best resort in Destin. My room was pricier b/c of a business function but you get what you pay for... Service was great from the time I arrived, hot, tired and sweaty and hungry, the bellman was energetic though he too was wringing wet. People that are shy on tips here in these reviews ("people always have their hand out") are clueless about the hospitality industry. I tipped my bellman $20 to unload the mound of stuff from my vehicle and took it up to my room and unloaded it again there. He took my ice bucket to the ice machine and filled it... he made sure I was happy with my room temp... he was THE welcoming committee. AND he almost hugged me for the tip! Maybe he was hoping I was moving in, goodness knows, it appeared that way. I can't always do that but it was worth it on the first day.

From there the only real interaction with staff I had was housekeeping. I had the same ladies all week and they were just southern sweet. They made me feel right at home and even said goodbye to me on my way home and stated they enjoyed waiting on me this week. Now.. they didn't HAVE to say that.. it was just sweet and now I'm telling everyone about my positive experience as it seems most people go out of there way to relay a negative experience.

The beds in my room were extraordinary! Only another reason that I didn't want to go home. I have a partial view of the gulf which was great! I had easy internet connection. There is a deli downstairs that serves Starbucks, Ben & Jerry's, muffins/pastries, breakfast sandwiches, Pizza Hut and Boarshead meats. Very convenient but typically resort priced but not shockingly. There was also an inhouse restaurant which i did not visit.

The function that I attended was catered several times by the hotel, one in particular was a grand buffet with carving stations, pasta bars, salads, fresh seafood, and the typical cold cheese plate fare. The food was most impressive for a hotel. I am a great judge of this b/c I am an event planner by trade and work frequently with hotels and other venues with food. Service was impeccable all the way through.

There are 3 pools including one indoors. There are servers for drinks that visit the beach and pool area which just puts you in the lap of luxury.

This is a great facility for vacation but it really is great for meetings/conventions as well. This is not the only hotel in this resort but it is the best.
