What a pool hall should be: You'll never see me on ESPN's pool championships, but I've been known to shoot a mean game of pool from time to time. I'm one of those guys who believes a pool hall should be exactly that: a place to shoot pool, drink a beer, smoke a cigarette and admire the scenery. Starcade does all that, and you won't find a potted fern in the place. Up front they've got the coin tables for 75 cents a round. The music is loud and so are the people. In the billiards room out back, it's quieter and a bit more pricey. But they've got stadium seating for the pro tournaments they host. If you want to take a break from the tables they've got video games and dart boards throughout. You can get a few snacks - nachos, chips and that kind of thing. But you don't go to Starcade to eat. The beer is cheap - $1.25 for a bottle of domestic. I've had many a happy night at Starcade; you will too.
