Great comfort food. I ordered the Cassava (yucca) with mojo, fried plantains, and roast pork. It was very good! Large servings especially the pork, there must have been at least a 1/2 pound. I highly recommend Mi Apa!
As a latin woman and a chef I am going to have to say the food in this restaurant is awful. The meats are tough and flavorless, the watered sorry excuse for beans was also an embarrassment to Cuban cuisine. Gainesville has a very small selection of restaurants that serve latin cuisine that are both affordable, with good service and food. I would stay away from here and spend my money either at Green Plantain or Fritanga, their food is a lot better.
I did not have a pleasant experience in this restaurant. The entrees are overpriced and very small. Let me give an example:
I ordered Palomillo with a salad. I ended up with a small, paper-thin slice of what could have been roast beef, with 3 strips of lettuce. This type of steak was also completely flavorless; Taco Bell meat has far more flavor than this. What did this meal run me by? +$8.
Definitely not worth your time or money, although the one positive aspect would be the attractive waitresses.
