I've used this store for years! Love the store and the people there to help. It's time for me to get my garden ready. I remember being told that I have to plant my new potato seed before Valentines Day. They've taught me all I know about my spring garden.
I seriously love this store! We go there several times a month for bedding & feed for our animals, and they are always very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. We were complete novices at gardening and raising ducks when we first started going to the store, but they never made me feel dumb for asking tons of questions, no matter how stupid (and there were lots of those!). Plus, shopping at local, family-owned businesses like this one is always a good thing!
When I started out 6 years ago I was sort of afraid of going into a store that I thought was for "real" farmers. Then I added chickens, and it was the closest place for feed. It took a few months (and I know they think I'm crazy) but they have become my go to source for everything on my "hippie" homestead. I've got a flock of chickens (18), and over 2000 sq ft of vegetable and fruit trees. And thanks to the encouragement, advice, and gentle ribbing, I've added a trio of breeding rabbits. How "J" stared at me when I told him it should be "pretty". And it is.
They have never sold me anything that would not grow in our area in the appropriate times.
Answered so many dumb ass questions I'm sure they have a bit of a giggle when I leave.
But here the FARMette is, earning enough to feed, the animals, enough produce to sell to pay for the organic bug stuff. And whoo boy do they have the answer for fire ants.
And thanks Steve for remembering the stock cane. PERFECT for picking my butt up off the ground.
