Overpriced.
Decent food- nothing fancy, just up to par.
The problem is the prices are way too high. A family of four should expect to spend $40 to $50 for breakfast.
Pancakes: two for $5.50 (does not include anything with it). Add to that $2.00 for coffee, plus tax and tip, and you're up to $10 for two pancakes and coffee.
The food is roughly similar to what you'd get at a Waffle House, only slower service with the higher price.
My suggestion: Try Kona Joe's for a breakfast sandwich and coffee for under $4 and with a better view of the water.
Downhome country cooking, with a modest family restaurant interior, and a large covered patio that is dog-friendly! We had our two large Bernese Mt. Dogs and the staff was cooperative, bringing ice water out for them, and generally working around them. Wonderful custom breakfast ("we never had anyone order that combination before"), generous portions, solid value. Open for breakfast & lunch only. Does not take credit cards, but didn't seem to matter, because the food is reasonably priced.
Our hotel had a sample menu that looked like it had reasonable prices. We walked over and found a dumpy looking but quaint restaurant. Turns out the prices are anything but reasonable and did not match the sample menu at all. $5.50 for two pancakes. No sides, just two pancakes. The sample menu was about $2 less.
We had two orders of french toast and sausage and a couple of drinks and our total came out to $23 and change (not including tip), and they don't take credit cards, so with the surcharges my bank and the other are going to charge our "cheap" breakfast cost well over $30.
The food was decent, but considering how run down the place is there is just no way to justify $8.95 for french toast and sausage.
The service, on the other hand, was just fine. Our waitress was nice and pleasant.
Recommendation is to go to Anne's on hwy 24 on the way in or out of town. MUCH better food and certainly much better value.
