DON'T BOARD YOUR DOG AT HILLTOP IN ALACHUA!
I left my 9 y/o basset there for a 3-day weekend. She spent the entire time in a little wire-front cage 6" off the floor in the "isolation room" and not in the clear-acrylic-door run with the kurunda bed with all the other dogs, like I had been promised. I left her with two days' food and they sent back one; they either didn't feed her or fed her something she's not used to. And they were using her harness like I asked, but it's a three-point harness and they were only securing two points. When I asked why she was in a cage, no one could tell me, just "that's where they put her". It's a beautiful state-of-the-art new building but the people are not to be trusted. 
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsDr.L.Jones has saved the life of 2 of my past dogs in critical situations. She and her assistant even came to my home years ago to put my beloved dog to sleep when the time was right. She is a skilled surgeon and a very compassionate Vet. I would highly reccomend her to anyone looking for a new vet for their animal. Hilltop Animal Hospital gets a 10.

some hospital's move dogs to diffrent rooms if they are going home soon in order to clean the cage they spent the whole time boarding in. also take into consideration that your dog is 9y/o and could have been under stress since it wasnt with you so maybe it wasnt hungry. i ONLY board my dog at this facility because of how wonderful these people really are. my poodle mix is a very timid dog and would have the worst time at a nearby hospital in alachua but since changing to hilltop she actually goes in the front door by herself!!
