Year After Year After Year: Fabulous Place. Seems like I keep going back year after year. At least since the 80's. The staff always helpful, friendly. Remember when there was very little parking, which has now expanded out back. My parents started eating there every Sunday after chuch and they passed away 17 yrs ago. I have continued the tradition as I'm able. However I do miss the other locations, closed by various events. Several years ago I was privileged to meet the founder at an AARP function. So I can see why the staff is the best.
"Old Florida": Writing a glowing review for this place is a two-edged sword. The downside: The more of you who go, the harder it is for me to get a seat! The good part is the Cookâs (the original owners) continue their well-deserved success.
As a fifth generation Floridian (born the year the restaurant opened), I can tell you this is Old Florida. Friendly, uniformed wait staff and all that wonderful, beautifully presented food. Real linen tablecloths. Real china. Florida, the way it was and never will be again. A few years ago I told our waitress I feel like Iâm five years old again when I visit. I donât need a theme park to pretend Iâve traveled back in time: I go to the Holiday House and Iâm there.
Iâm only able to get to DeBary once or twice a year, but I always make it a point to drive the extra 10 miles to DeLand to visit Holiday House.
Great Buffet Restaurant: This may be the most consistant restaurant in history. The food is just great.
