| About: | The acoustics aren't that great, it's a task to get to your seat, and there isn't sufficient parking. But that doesn't deter lovers of the performing arts from visiting the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center. Undoubtedly, the central venue for culture in Orlando, it has a seating capacity of 2,500 people. Host to a wide array of events, it is best known for the annual Orlando Broadway Series. The series features Broadway hits, such as Cats, as well as other international acts, such as The Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables. Other events on its wide platter include ballet, orchestra, theatre and musical performances. |

We went to see Jersey Boys recently and were totally disappointed with the seating. The auditorium only has side aisles with a poorly designed horseshoe seating arrangement. When you spend eighty dollars per ticket, you shouldn't have to step on thirty or forty people (no exageration) to get to your seat.
Whoever designed this theater has done a great disservice to the people of Orlando. We won't be returning to this performance center.
Attended the Orlando Philharmonic - Home for the Holidays at Bob Carr 2pm 11/29/08. Waited for the performers to wow me but they never did. One exception was the inclusion of very talented youth singer and youth musicians. The building acoustics are very poor. Sat in balcony but music volume was degraded by the open ceiling. Sorry but Annie Sims
just didn't do it for me either. Understand she spent time singing in bars. Perhaps tear-jerking country went over well there, but would have like to have heard more festive & uptempo for the holiday season. By the way- disagreed with the choice of costumes/clothing by most singers. Little sparkle and no dazzle.
I have been to Bob Carr about 3 times. Its an old-dated building that was never meant for stage shows/etc. I think it was originally a boxing ring years back and then converted into what it is now.
Many venues prefer to perform at locations in Tampa and melbourne rather than here because they know how bad the stage is among other things.
Its ok if you have no other options, but you must pay top dollar for a seat up front or forget it.

My wife and myself attended the May 23rd showing of Jersey Boys and although Carol has a point, unfortunately its on top of her head! The show more than made up for any minor inconvenience that we may have experienced! My wife being handicapped Im sure had endured a bit more than others and enjoyed the time of her life at this theater!
