Yuck, yuck, yuck! We just ate here on Friday (1/29) for the first time. I bought one of the gift certificates deals online. I've driven past this place a million times and never stopped. Now I wish I could still say that.
We went with my brother and his family so there were 4 adults and 3 kids. The kids were not welcome! We got quite a few annoyed looks (in Lake County - the land of Seniors- this is nothing new).
The certificate doesn't include pizzas so we each ordered a pasta dish and spaghetti for the kids. It's really hard to screw up spaghetti for kids but somehow they managed. Out of the three of them none finished it because it tasted "weird" or just plain "gross". Out of the four adult pasta dishes, three went virtually untouched. The pesto had a strange taste, the prosciutto and cheese purses lacked the prosciutto and the chicken marsala was void of any taste at all. The only ting that was worth eating was the Spinach Florentina (Spinach Lasagna).
When certain undesirable elements of our dinner were pointed out to our server, she proceeded to search the pasta for the prosciutto herself. When she didn't find any she explained that maybe it was ground up.
The bill was insanely high even after our gift certificate and we all had waters (another thing that brought an annoyed huff from server).
Overall, I felt incredibly ripped off!!!!!! (and hungry!) We should have saved our time and money and gone to the best Italian place in Lake County. I'll give you a hint, it starts with a V and is located on 441 in Mount Dora! Just a thought....
Clearly the people who have reviewed this restaurant have never been to Italy or New York or to Bay Street in Eustis for that matter. The kitchen turns out food worthy of a mediocre Greek diner, greasy eggplant, overcooked tomato sauce, just dreadful. If you like Fazoli's you'll fall in love with this place, the Italian family who owns this place should be ashamed of themselves and go to Italy for retraining or perhaps get Spiro out of the kitchen.
We visited Anelo's for the first time and it certainly will not be the last. The meals we had were the very best. I must say that Angelo out did himself on the Linguini Pescatore(spelling)because I have had this same dish in southern Italy. Angelo food has won us over and will always bring our family and firends there. We will be back there for good May 22 and will celebrate with dinner at Angelo's. Antonio from Cape Coral *****
