Blackwater BBQ

The pulled pork is great, super tender and oh so flavorful. The sweet BBQ sauce is great as well! One of the best sweets I've had in a long time. The sides are, well, hardly worth mentioning but being the BBQ Brat that I am, here goes. The black-eyed peas are under cooked, and the collard greens taste more like poorly made turnip greens (which I loathe). Meanwhile the green beans are over done and mushy. Im a down home southern girl, I know how black-eyed peas, collards greens and green beans should be and this place is NOT it! If you are looking for good BBQ meats, good sized portions, at a decent low price, you cannot go wrong with this place. The meats are cooked wonderfully and the sauce is good. Be wary of the sides, they need some serious perfecting in that arena!!

If you want a great tasting BBQ MEAL, with all the sides, at a great price, and great taste, go to Ole Boys BBQ, great meats, great sauce, and great sides!!!!

Drove almost 40 miles to get there because l'd heard some good press. It was worth the trip to know that I don't have to do it again. If I'm in the area it's worth a short detour. BBQ was decent but nothing to write home about. Good rub. They cut to order rather than "pre-pulling" or leaving the meat around in stock or worse for hours and that's a definite plus. They seem to be going through the motions on the whole however. The sauces were completely run of the mill and most of the sides seemed like afterthoughts. I went there on a Saturday afternoon, not the busiest time, so maybe that affected the performance but I didn't get a feeling I was at a restaurant that actually ran a bbq team. I've been to all the national competitions and I've seen what real "que" is about. They are adhering to the rules of real bbq but the end result is merely adequate.

I have to say I have eaten almost every Orlando BBQ restaurant and I must say that Blackwater BBQ has the best baby back ribs in town. There sauce is killer. What I like about there setup is that once you get the food you can take it behind to the the drink station and add your own lemons to your ice tea and etc condiments... I also have to recommend the collard greens... They have a very different taste that I like ... I am not even that big on collard greens usually!!! Alot of people (including Food Network) think that Cecils is a very good BBQ restaurant which is right around the corner. But last time I ate there the food was horrible.... They have alot of competetion on Orange Ave which Ole Boys has a decent Pulled Pork sandwich... But this one is my favorite for RIBS especially hands down!!!
