Grills has been a local haunt for years untill several years back when they built the big new resturant and expanded tiki bar, then disgracefully took our old tiny tiki bar and laid it on the ground in back of the marina building, along with the local flair and reputation for being the coolest little locals tiki bar anywhere,Back then it was called just the tiki bar,and you had to walk past the boat ramps to the local park bathroom on into the sunrise marina to tinkle, also the locals all had there huggies stuck under the bar with our names on them and the bar top was hand carved with everyones names on it ,messages etc ,mostly it was fishing boat captins and local boaters that launched on the weekend or just came down to have a beer on one of the 15 or so spots on the bench seating there,Well when they disassembled the old smaller tiki bar and carried it out back and disgarded it,they also sold out the real locals who made it what it was,and cast them all out back, and what we have now is progress I guess,Which is such a shame,as if you have ever been down to the islands or the keys in the early times when the old railroad bridge was still used, thats the atmosphere you had at the old Tiki bar at the ramps,Where everyone knew each other and the Barmaid knew us all,Such a nice calming hole in the wall turned into such a noisy for profit tourist trap ,with not much of anything to go down there for anymore, its been a couple years now since I stepped foot in that place, and most likely will be a few more ,after all who wants to go to fight parking lot traffic to find a spot to park, then walk a mile to get to the bar ,then have to struggle and wait to get a beer, and be jammed in with 10,000 tourists elbow to elbow sweating all over you for what?the view?not at this port anymore, there is no view, its kinda like the view at the beach once you have found a beach access to get past the wall of condos so you can see the beach and ocean, what a shame Cocoa beach and Cape Canaveral have become, from a beautiful place to grow up natural ,pretty ,to a concrete jungle ,a clastrofobic feeling comes over you as you walk down ridgewood,,parking meters everywhere nickle and dimeing the tourists,as the locals wont put any money in there we know where to park to go to the beach and not have to pay,im suprised there are not pay toliets on every beach access in cocoa beach,im sure its because they have not thought about it yet,Hopefully when they shut down the shuttle like they did after apollo ended it will have the same effect afterwards ,and all of these progressive minded people will leave my little town and go back up north or where ever they came from ,and this place will go back to the slow sleepy little town it used to be where we used to laught and joke about all that land between melbourne beach and sebastian as we drove to the inlet to surf as this is all that swamp land they sell to them suckers up north,it was so desolate,And maybe even if it gets as bad as it was they will go around back of the marina and get our old little tiki hut and tear down that tourist mecca thats in its place and put it back up and we may even be able to fill the seats like we used to do now and then.In the mean time i guess i just best keep my eye out for another little town like this used to be with a nice little local tiki bar on the water as fat chance this town will ever return to the wonderfull place it was to grow up where everyone knew everyone and we all waved and spoke to each other as we passed by,But there is hope I hear tell as Barrak Obama is in office and talking about going back on his promise to stand behind the space program, ending it and or severly limiting or shutting down our retun to the moom project,Now that will be the first thing he would do id like, but many space center friends wouldent, but you call that progress dont you?in Reverse Manner, lol,,!!!yea
A great place to enjoy dinner! You will not be disappointed!
The atmosphere is great. The food was pretty tasty as well - especially the coconut shrimp. We didn't have the best waiter but overall a pretty good experience.
