I love the Breads, Baked goods, Food and service..: We walked in just before closing with 3 Adults and 3 HUNGRY kids. We did'nt know if we would encounter a waitress with an attitude and a cook with a sour face as they locked the door behind us... Much to our delight we were treated like family. Our waitress was so sweet and kind with a constant smile.
The food arived Hot and delicious. We talked and enjoyed our food so much.
With the kids at there own table we were lost in conversation when the kids asked to sit and watch Harry Potter at a small family bar at the end of the restaurant. We looked on and the kids were enjoying 3 orange sodas from the owner - on the house. The kids came back a little later and informed us that we were the last ones in the restaurant. Looking around we saw the owner Tommy walking toward us with a smile. Here comes the gentle push out the door we thought...But, again to our delight...Tommy stood and talked with us for 20 minutes or more giving us the history of Grampa's and the family. We left with our tummys and hearts FULL and satisfied. Thank you Tommy and all the wonderful people that work there. P.S. Hands down the BEST bakery we have been to in years!!!
worst food around Broward: I've been in Dania for 30 years. I've eaten here at least a hundred times but haven't eaten there since the service and quality of food plummeted years ago when the son in law or grandson, which ever he is, took over. I also use to order bakery products for years everyday for take out for the office. I started consistently getting stale bakery products. I found out through one of the employees that they save their bakery products, including rolls, for days until they either sell them or they get hard as a rock. Last time I actually ate there, I had biscuits and gravy. The gravy had chopped up arteries in it. It was, to say the least, GROSS! After getting it that way twice in a row, I stopped eating there. The service is provided from untrained, unmanaged girls or older women with the same background of training. My family has been in a successful business for over 40 years. I've know for a fact that if you pay for advertising in a local rag or paper, they promote your business as being the best in town. That's what's going on here and the newspapers that hawk this most undesirable joint. Very low class, dingy and dirty feeling. If only someone with talent and a work ethic would open a real breakfast place in Dania, they would make out like the Count of Monte Cristo!
Overall an average place for breakfast..: The place is clean.. The busboys are sloppy at times and the food is average.

Believe me, I totally hate to write this review. But, I've been going to Grampa's for over 10 years. I was turned on to the place by a friend and soon became a dedicated customer. The breakfast here has gotten so bad my girlfriend refuses to even step in the door. Yes, they serve danish at the table with your breakfast. Have you tried the chicken fried steak lately (AHHH!!), or the corned beef hash (DO YOURSELF A FAVOR!! DON'T!!). ?? I regret to report that what was once a place where you could be assured of getting a great breakfast has gone to the dogs. The last time we were there, I had to trade meals with my girlfriend, just to get her to stay. I never did get my toast until I was ready to go out the door (I'm completely with Edward J. on this), and the whole experience was exasperating. I'm saying the coffee was even bad. COME ON!! We love Guy's show, Food Channel's "Diner's, Drive-Ins & Dives". We all love good food, but the owner here really needs to get back to satisfying his customers. We will not be back until we've heard that's happened. B'Bye, ONCE DEDICATED CUSTOMER
