Unfortunately, I cannot give this restaurant less than one star, because my experience at East China was abominable. I am a new resident of Rockledge and East China was recently recommended to me by several colleagues. They assured me that East China was one of the better Chinese restaurants in the area. I opted to try East China instead of my usual Chinese eatery (China Wok, which is excellent!). Upon arriving at East China, I walked in to discover one of the cooks casually seated in the front dining room chatting to the hostess. After a lukewarm reception, I was asked what I would like without the offer of a menu. I asked if I could get a vegetable lo mein and the cook shuffled to the kitchen as the hostess rang up my bill - a total of $7.93. Upon arriving home, I was disappointed to open the togo bag to find that I had been given a small bowl of warmed-over vegetables with a few barely visible strands of lo mein noodles. I was also given some dried cracker noodles that were barely palatable and were by no means a substitute for lo mein noodles. I had to prepare some noodles at home to go with the vegetables just to make a dinner out of a side dish that cost nearly $8. I was appalled to have paid near $8 for a something that would not qualify as an appetizer at my regular eatery. I called East China to express my concern about the poorly constructed and over-priced dinner. I was greeted with a gravelly âhulloâ without any reference to the East China establishment. After confirming that I had in fact contacted East China, the man made it abundantly clear that there had in fact been a mistake with the order and I was given a sarcastic âsorryâ for the inconvenience caused me. I was given a meal that would not qualify for a side dish at any half-reputable establishment for $8 and when I called to discuss this matter I was patronized by a barely coherent member of the kitchen staff. I worked in the restaurant business for 10 years as a cook and I would never be seen in the dining area wearing a dirty apron, and I certainly would not speak to a customer on the phone in a condescending tone; most definitely, I would have been ashamed to serve the dish given me on this evening. Want to have a nice Chinese dinner? Ditch this place and go to China Wok. The staff are friendly, the meals are delightful, and you will not be disappointed.

I have no idea what your talking about but East China is the best chinese restaurant I have ever been to. No one ever answers the telephone with just a Hello they always say East China how can i help you? I am disgusted with your lies and extremely upset that this review is even posted. I would recommend every one I know and even someone I don't know to this restaurant. It is the best chinese food and restaurant overall and you have no idea at all what you are talking about my friend.
