| About: | A New York-style Italian restaurant and pizzeria, this place is noted for its large entree portions and sandwiches as well as for its Neapolitan and Sicilian-style pizzas. Although popular with locals and always busy, the restaurant does not accept reservationsso arrive early. Large, delicious portions of homemade Italian entrees sell for moderate prices. Lasagna is a favorite. Also try the noteworthy house wines. The decor is casual and functional, but the busy pace of the place adds to its cosmopolitan ambiance. |

Pizza is bangin! (try to get Jack to make your pie) everything else is a toss up. I worked there back in 2003. food is anywhere from alright to good. do yourself a favor and dont order anything with breading in on or around your meal. house salad dressing is also really good. a little pricy at times, but has a very authentic feel.
We too must have picked a wrong night to dine at the Conca D'Oro Restaurant.
A year ago I moved from Long Island, NY to Hollywood, Florida. Shortly after moving friends and I dined at Conca D'Oro. The meal, ambiance, and wait staff were excellent. Last night a friend came to visit from Long Island and we went back. I spent the evening apologizing.
Our waiter was nice enough. My friend was disappointed that Pesto was not on the menu, and further disappointed to be told the Peroni beer, on the menu, was not available. A "New York Style" Italian restaurant with two imported beers on the menu, but only the Heniken was available? A warning of what was to come?
My friend settled for spagetti with meatball while I had the veal with peppers.
While awaiting our meals, the bread arrived. It could have been a nice oil and garlic bread if hot or at least warm, but cold it was just nasty.
The salad was served with an oil and seasoning dressing in a small plastic container that would have been in character on a hospital food tray, not in any good restaurant. After shaking the dressing its appearance remained unappetizing. The salad consisted of one green olive, one black olive, and one small green pepper on a bed of (Italian?) iceberg lettuce.
My veal was tough, the peppers undercooked, the spagetti over cooked, and the sauce from a can.
The waiter reappeared only to clear the table.
No one inquired if we were happy with the meal.
Perhaps the owners and staff were aware how bad it was and didn't want to ask?
The entire experience was very unpleasant.
Something very bad must have happened in the last several months to push the Conca D'Oro to this level.
I will not be back. I suggest you find someplace else to go. Avoid Conca D'Oro. Pick up Bertoni at Publix and dine at home.
Well, after reading all the great reviews on this place, I can only assume that we picked a wrong night to dine at the Conca D'Oro Restaurant.
I am a young professional, my girlfriend a chef for the Yacht Industry and our other friend a poker dealer.
Upon arrival we witnessed the owner having an open and loud argument with one of the waitresses, right in the middle of the dining room.
We waited for table service, which was not a problem, until the "owner" came to greet us at our table to tell us how unhappy he was with his staff and we should have service very soon.
Our waitress was very pleasant, kind and sweet. She did not know how to use the cork-screw to open the bottle of wine, OH, well, again, not a problem...she did use her teamwork skills and soon the bottle was opened by a co-worker.
I am sad to report that the white pizza that we ordered was everything but good. The anchovies on the side, looked and smelled as if they had walked over from New York City. The veal parmigiana should have been called "shoe leather".
The owner followed up with a visit to our table to inquire about our experience.
When my friend the chef, told him in a friendly and kind of funny way that the food sucked. He became defensively aggressive, verbally abusive, and left abruptly.
The truth of the matter remains that "OUR FOOD WAS AWFUL".
The owner is rude and arrogant, lacks people AND service skills and should not be allowed to continue to miss-treat his staff as the three of us witnessed, along with a few dozen other folks there last night.
Our experience was very unpleasant and expensive. Better LUCK to You!
