I have shoped in many wallmarts, and most is worth the drive. NOT SO IN HOMESTEAD! Impossible to get any one on the phone that is not asleep or incoherant! The parking lot of wallmart is the most frequent heard call on the police scanner! Car break ins and parking lot muggings are part of the experience! Dont go there after dark unless you are armed! Store is dirty and in a state of disarray at all times. merchandise selection is the worst for any wallmart store I have seen. The employees have no discipline at all and no phone training at all. Avoid like the plague here in Homestead!
I agree with most of the other reviewers. This Wal Mart is only a few miles from my house, so I end up going more than I normally would. It is awful. Dirty store, long lines, indifferent employees. Last Thursday I went DURING THE DAY and there weren't any shopping carts inside the store. I inquired about it and the guy at the door said "nobody has brought them back yet". So, I had to turn around, go back out into the 90-degree heat, to the far end of the humongous parking lot and get one myself. On more than one occasion I have been approached by bums in the parking lot (both male and female) begging for money. I would go to another Wal Mart but they all suck in the Miami area, so I might as well stick to the one close to home. When I go to visit friends in VA it's like a whole different store. No huge crowds, no screaming Mexicans, Cubans or "Thugs", and the employees actually make you feel welcome. What a difference.
After being a fan of Wal-mart for many many years this one is about to turn me against them. No matter what time of day you go there is always long...very long lines at the checkouts. I will never buy any cold or frozen foods there again since I can never seem to get out of the checkouts and get home before they get unfrozen.

Maybe they could worry about taking care of us customers at the registers instead of standing in groups talking, since we will be making more work for them leaving our items we took so long to collect at the registers and walking out in frustration and going to publix or any other store that is concerned about the customer.
I'm actually commenting on the comment. I know personally that the store isn't a very good one but there's no reason to take it out on the employees. Some don't do they're job but they don't last there very long for that exact reason. Those who do remain and do they're job right are over worked, under paid, and have to deal with negativity ever second of the day. So if you're upset you end up shopping at Publix just don't go Wal-Mart in the first place.
It's easy for some people to say "just don't go", but for those of us that HAVE to shop there due to the economy or other financial issues, that is easier said than done. If employees slack off because they are overworked and underpaid as the person above stated....find another job. In regards to them not doing their job well because they have to deal with the negativity...welcome to the real world of having a job. I have been to Walmarts in Southern California, Oregon, Michigan, Ohio, Massachusetts, all over - but I have never experienced anything like the wait at the Florida City store. The least amount of time I have waited in line was 20 minutes in "express checkout". I don't think the major issue is employees slacking so much as a lack of employees in general.
