The service at Camilles was horrible. Our waitress had a really bad attitude, for no reason, and provided lousy service. I based our tip on the awful service we received, and tipped about 5%. Well, then the owner cornered my husband, and told him that he couldn't leave until he gave the waitress $10 more in tip. He was nice enough to do so, but I'm horrified that they would demand more money. A tip is optional, and based on receiving good service! This waitress should have got nothing for her awful attitude.
The food was pretty blah as well. The website brags about having vegetarian entrees, but there were none availabe on the menu. In fact, there was only one salad available that I could have. They were unwilling to alter any menu item to make it meat free or to make substitutions with any of their meals. They also became visibly angry when we inquired about what ingredients were in certain menu items, to determine if they were meat free. I don't expect to have a vegetarian meal available everywhere, but if they advertise as being vegetarian friendly, they should have at least one vegetarian entree available.
My husband is not a vegetarian, so he had the steak. He said it was one of the most fatty piece of meat he's ever eaten, and it was covered with a flavorless sauce. It looked pretty gross to me, and he got really sick after eating it.
The menu items all seemed overpriced for what you were actually getting. None of the food seemed particularly appetizing, or well made, and the service was abyssmal. We won't be going back to Camille's.
We went with high expectations. We had eaten there three years ago, several times, and had good food and good service. What a change! The waitress was overbearing, and so loud the entire restaurant heard everything she was saying to everyone. Everyone knew she had been there for 8 years, so couldn't the owners give her a few pointers to clean up her act! As we sat there forced to listen to her dialogue, the room was hot and sticky. We were served quickly, my husband a mediocre chicken salad and I, pale lamb chops (no sign of grill marks) over a bed of spinach salad, which was overly dressed. The food poor to average and overpriced.

When that nit-wit told your husband he couldn't leave you should have called the police. Shame on you if you didn't.
