Soyka is overpriced for the quality of food. The food is bland & mediocre.
I have tried a lot of different dishes and the food really does not impress me. I have never had a problem with the staff. They have always been polite to me. However the staff was nicer about 6 years ago than now. Still till this day the place is packed at lunchtime. Makes me wonder where everyone's taste buds are at.
Like many of the reviewers here, I live about a block from Soyka's, and was impressed upon first glance at the place. It's huge, has very interesting decor (warehouse industrial/funky meets upscale hotel), and the menu looks diverse and interesting.
However. After spending about 5 minutes in that warehouse-like main dining room, you soon realize that the acoustics in there are enough to drive a person crazy. It's LOUD. I've had good and bad experiences with the staff; most of them have been nice (unlike most establishments in Miami), but some of them less than punctual.
The food has also been hit or miss. In general, I find it overpriced and underwhelming. The Cobb salad is good. I find that if I stick with that, request seating in the garden area or outside, and get a good waiter, I'm usually not too disappointed. But the moment you seat me in the main room, give me the newest girl on staff, and I order the 'special' of the day...ugh. It's always disappointing. And did I mention overpriced?
I'm sad to say, it's much ado about nothing. I think at one time, it used dto be fabulous. Many long-timers in this 'hood have told me it used to be better. Which might explain why people keep showing up there.
I, for one, have taken it completely off the roster of places to eat when I want to go out. I don't even consider it anymore.
Our New FAVORITE Spot.: My Honey and I went to Soyka the other day for the 1st time. Because he was feeling a good steak. I live near the restaurant and I suggested we try since it's so close to me. Amazingly, this has become one of our new favorite dinner spots. Keep up the good work, service and Ambiance. Loved It!!!
