Best Buy rocks, mate, if for no other reason, they don't move based on commission rates, which is what may have ultimately been the nail in Circuit City's coffin. Whenever I have a question about something that I'm not getting anywhere with in the tech community, I walk into my favourite Best Buy store, and seek out the geeks...that is an endearing term by the way. They're helpful and knowlegeable AND if they don't personally know what to answer to your questions, they KNOW who to ask that will have the right information. And since they're not driven by commission-based sales, they sell you what you should have, based mainly on the answers to your questions. And if that doesn't make sense or seems difficult to understand, walk into your neighborhood Best Buy, and ask them ... They'll have answers:) I think Best Buy rocks!

Tried to call this store to talk to someone about a problem I was having with an appliance that I purched. I was on the phone with it ringing for about a half hour. After numerous attempts to get a person to talk to me I had to call the 1 888 number to get someone to help me. I also left a message for a manager to call me two days pryer and no one returned my call at all. As a major company you should have someone at the phones to direct phone calls.

Epitomizes corporate customer service: Best Buy is a perfect example of how the proliferation of warehouse superstores have committed customer service genocide. For better or worse, Best Buy deals in volume. Customer service is an expendable commodity. If you know exactly what you want, then you'll be thrilled with the selection. But walk in with a handful of questions and you'll likely walk out with a splitting headache and an urge to break something. If you are lucky enough to find someone who'll stop to answer your questions, chances are their technical expertise will be limited to selling you whichever product costs more. The more likely scenario, however, is trying to grab a passing salesperson only to be told in passing that "That's not my department" or "I'm on break".

But the real tragedy is knowing you don't really have much of a choice. You could go to Circuit City, but that's like comparing black licorice to black jelly beans. They're both terrible.
