Chocolate Moose Music Cafe

A dying breed, this is a 60's-style music cafe (we used to call them coffeehouses in the Village) that is a reliable evening out for music, drinks (beer and wine), and light fare. There is entertainment every evening (closed Sunday and Monday) that ranges from jazz to blues to rock to oldies to open mic nights. Seating is VERY limited, and, this being south Florida, many acts bring in family and friends and seats fill quickly. Since it is a favorite place of mine, I hesitate to publicize it, but owners Caroline and Ozzie are such sweethearts they deserve to keep it going. After all, the Luna Star Cafe is a schlep to North Miami, and there's nothing comparable 'twixt here and there. The menu is all you need -- boutique and pub fare (great chicken wings) and beer, wine, soft drinks, and coffee, of course. The desserts are to die for! An affordable night out with no cover and a two-drink minimum only on open mic nights.
