| About: | Warm woodwork and black booths provide a welcoming and sophisticated atmosphere at this pleasant bistro near the beaches and the popular 17th Street shopping/hotel area. Bistro Mezzaluna has a contemporary look here, but the food focuses on traditional Italian fare, ranging from a variety of pastas to veal, beef and chicken favorites featuring the flavors of the Mediterranean. A 16-ounce veal chop is a particularly succulent offering, and you can wind up lunch or dinner with a creme brulee. |

Good Food and Drinks: The Bistro, in my opinion, makes the best real martini in Fort Lauderdale. The bar does a land office business and is always busy. However, the food is surpirsingly good. The pasta dishes are all excellent.
Last Minute Company: Recently, my boyfriend's cousin came to visit with daughter and nanny-in-tow. I was asked Friday at 5:30 where to go for dinner. I found the restaurant on the Internet and took a chance. The maitre'd made us a reservation for 7. The decor was quaint and intimate. The waiter brought delicious cocktails and an excellent wine list. I ordered the special. My crab encrusted grouper in key lime sauce was to die for and I can't believe I finished it. My boyfriend's cousin had a ravioli in a tomato basil that she said was imaginative and delicious. My boyfriend had the bolognese which he described as very good. (He always says food is "fine", so very good was exceptional). The nanny ordered the most expensive dish loaded with lobster, which she simply described as spicy. What does she know? Overall, I will definitely go there again. By the way, happy hour there is great with 2 for 1 and complimentary hors'douvres like seared tuna and calamari.
