The atmosphere is awesome! good food great service!
We ventured to Thai Spice after reading the great reviews for the restaurant. We had a reservation and were seated within five minutes. 2 hours and 40 minutes later, we were finally able to leave. The service was terrible. We could not get water. We did not hear the specials. It took forever for our food to arrive. No one checked on us during the meal and it took twenty minutes to flag down a server for additional rice. They did not give us the option of dessert. Whenever we spoke to the server, she looked impatient to bolt from the table. The only time the server was attentive was after bringing the receipt for our signature, at which point she checked on us 3 times in the course of 5 minutes. That kind of attention would have been much appreciated earlier in the evening. The service made this an unpleasant experience. The food, however, was very good.
This is the 1st time I've written a restaurant review, but I found Thai Spice on Yahoo Food and was so impressed with the entire dining expeience that I felt obligated to comment.
The restaurant is modest and unpretentious, but last night the strip-mall parking lot was full, as were surrounding areas. We had to wait 20 minutes because we hadn't made reservations, but while waiting, my wife and I started a very good (and reasonably priced) bottle of wine at one of the sidewalk tables. From beginning to end of our evening, the service was excellent. All staff personnel we encountered were very efficient, friendly, and attentive, without being intrusive or servile.
The restaurant decor is pleasant, relaxing and interesting but not distracting. The menu is extensive, the portions generous, and the food truly wonderful. I spent 3 years in Thailand and 14 years married to an excellent Thai cook, and I can vouch for the cuisine authenticity. We started with traditional Thai salad and soup, followed by 2 different House Specials of curried seafood (red & green curries). We ate heartily as it proved impossible to leave such excellent fare unfinished, but unfortunately had no room for dessert. We finished with hot green tea and traditional Thai iced tea.
The prices were surprisingly reasonable considering the portions, high quality, and exceptional service.
In summary, we have rarely spent such a pleasant evening at a restaurant, or had such excellent food, and we've put Thai Spice high on our list of all-time great dining experiences. Thank you!
