I have been going to Barrier Reef for years and I recommend it highly.
I disagree with the previous review that took issue with the service. I've been going to Aquarium stores since I convinced my parents to buy me my first fresh water tank at age 10 and guess what? Sometimes you have to wait if there are people ahead of you. That's just the way it is. My experiences with the staff at the Barrier Reef have always been positive. They know their stuff, they take their time to explain it to you, and they aren't going to rush you because a few other customers happened to show up at the same time.
But I don't choose an Aquarium based on customer service anyway - I choose it on quality. I don't want to put up a bunch of money for fish and then have them die on me a few days later. This has never happened to me at Barrier Reef and I can't say that about other stores. No Aquarium is going to give you a guarantee, but I've never needed one since I've been buying at the Barrier Reef. -

Sorry, I don't agree at all with the glowing portion of these reviews. My telephone inquiry was met with dreadful customer service, but I suppose I should be grateful they answered, based on other comments below. Fortunately, I don't have to spend my money there. Why is it that employees cannot realize that the customer service they give, or don't give in this case, affects the business, and therefore their jobs? Ambivilant, lackadaisical at best. And where is the manager or owner not to see this???

they never answer the phone because they are always busy with customers, if they are ringing me up for my purchases they won't answer, they give the customers in the store their full attention.
