Wow !! I could not believe the quality of the recipes and execution from this place. This place is a total gem. Funny enough, this is the closest restaurant I have been to near my house. I discovered it through a random review/recommendation on chowhound. They only do takeout at this location. So, I picked up some interesting dishes and WOW !!!
    Here's what I got:
    - pork pan fried dumplings...great sauce
    - mushu pork...huge portion...great ingredients...pork was super tender...really interesting brown sauce with strips of what seemed to be cabbage; comes with another sauce that is like cabarnet colored and is really complex..a little bit of sweetness...this is true mandarin cooking!!!!! tastes like it was brought right over from a master chef from china !!!!
    - chow fun noodles with beef; where to begin? these noodles are wide thick ones...really soft..but not soggy..and yet not "al dente" as italian ones would be...i think they are made with egg; let me just say: I just had the same dish for $30 at "the restaurant at the setai" south beach...a super high end asian restaurant at the setai hotel. this dish which was about $9 here was as good if not better than the one i had at the setai. the noodles are softer than i thought was possible. the beef was so soft as well and so tasty. everything tasted incredibly fresh. lots of exotic chinese onion types of vegetables for flavoring. highly recommend this one. i think this is pretty rare to find on a menu.
    - black bean chicken....chicken was really soft and tender..and the black bean sauce was not too thick nor too saulty.
I thought authentic chinese with complex mandarin recipes would be impossible to find in Florida. And, after trying various places like Jade, Uncle Tai, 5 spice, and couple others ..i was starting to get depressed. I thought I would be relegated to super pricey places like China Grill, Setai, or the newly opened world renouned Hakkassan at the Fountainbleua. Thank goodness I found this gem!!!!
Next time, I will open up a nice bottle of red wine to wash down those chow fun noodles !! :)
