My daughters dance here. One has been here a few years, one just started. Both LOVE it. After this year's recital, they held their own "recital" all summer long, even running off stage between numbers.

I danced at other places in Brandon as a kid, and I was pleasantly surprised to NOT see teacher's pets or cliques at this studio. The focus is on the technique, training, and self-discipline. Corrections are given as constructive criticism (not shamefully with the wooden stick I experienced 20 yrs ago). Politics are not played; students are placed based on their ability. Other studios don't rein in teacher's attire. No worries of your child "getting an eyeful" here, as the teachers dress appropriately.

I hear moms around town lament other studio's recital fees. The Dance Center's recital fees were MUCH less since costumes are rented instead of purchased. I highly recommend this studio.

What an AMAZING program! My children have been taking classes at this studio for almost 6 years now, and not only do they receive the highest quality of classical dance instruction, but they are also treated with an incredible amount of love and respect. They have taken classes in all genres of dance that are offered there and have learned more than I had expected. The teachers are required to learn the first name of each student on day one and address them by their name from then on. They are not just "the little blonde on the end". Birthdays and special achievements are noticed, and the older dancers are expected to treat the younger ones with respect. The older dancers are taught to understand that these younger dancers may look up to them, and as role models they are expected to acknowledge the younger dancers and treat them with respect and kindness at all times. We have been spared the painful snubs of older dancers who are "too good" to waste their time on a little kid. As a result the director of the school (lovingly called "Miss Alice" by her students) and all of her teachers have fostered a true appreciation and love of the art form in the children. My children count the days simply by what dance class they have or how long until the next ballet class. They might not always be in the same classes as their friends, but if your child wants to become the best dancer they can be, it is not always going to happen in the same class as their friends. Besides children grow at different rates and have different strengths; to group them into the same class as their friends simply because the kids want to hang out together would be GROSSLY irresponsible. Miss Alice promotes on ability and strength and looks out for the safety and success of all of her students. I might suggest that if your children want to join a class just to be with their friends ... organize a play date, but if your child wants to learn true classical ballet and become the best dancer they can ... you could do no better that The Dance Center.

My daughter goes here and we are very pleased- the teachers are very professional and really focus on the progress of each child as an individual. I am confident that she is getting great training here, and I have noticed that a number of the dancers from The Dance Center have gone on to become professional dancers, which is what my daughter hopes to achieve.
