My father was buried at FNC,in Nov 08. Very beautiful and well maintained I just wish I could find a grounds map online. Thought I had found one once. I just hated to leave and then they buried him with out us there at the gravesite. I would have liked that bit of closure to SEE him placed to rest.
I WANT TO INFORM ALL OF THE YAHOO USERS OUT THERE THAT FLORIDA NATIONAL CEMETERY IS A MILITARY CEMETERY,ALSO I WANT TO SAY IS THAT MY FATHER JAMES L. MAYES IS BURIED THERE.HE PASSED AWAY ON JULY 22,2003 AT THE AGE OF 60.
BEFORE HE PASSED,I PROMISE HIM A MILITARY FUNERAL AND I SHOWED HIM A VIDEO OF FLORIDA NATIONAL CEMETERY, AND I SAID TO HIM "I DON'T WHERE IT IS BUT I AM GOING TO PUT YOU THERE,AND YOU DESERVE A MILITARY FUNERAL" AND WE SHOOK HANDS ON IT. I ALSO WANT TO SAY IS THAT MY FATHER
IS BURIED THERE.
beautifully maintained, serene, respectful. I feel at peace having my husband there and knowing the gravesite will always be well cared for. I love the flags they display at certain times of the year. It makes an impressive display and lovely. There are places to sit and meditate and a carrilon. There are also wonderful areas for a service. This is a great comfort for veterans spouses.
