Child missing and nothing done by the school.: This school really has no way to truly monitor the activity taking place on campus. We watched the entrance area for almost an hour and no on duty police walked by. My Niece is currently missing and it happened at this school on 17 AUG 05 at about 11:00 AM. The protection for our kids here is not adequate.

On the 17 nothing was done. The people at the school would try to find out what was going on. They told my mother that Erika was in all of her classes. When we arrived the next day, the staff at the front office did not seem to even know anything about the missing child. The Principal did not make himself available, so we set with the Assistant Principal, who was totally unaware of the case, so we knew that it had not been given any priority, neither had much investigating had been done.

After the staff telling my Mom yesterday that Erika was in all classes, they were now telling us that she was not there at all. After a little while that changed to say that she was there for her first and second period. Then it changed again to she was there for 1-4 periods and missed only the 5th. Do we really have a reliable system to account for our children attendants to school?

The Principal claimed he had checked with other kids but none seemed to even be aware of the fact that there was a missing student, when we requested to go to one of her classes in order to identify someone that my niece had reported to have had minor differences with. No one had checked to see if she had showed up the next day to her classes. No one had checked her locker, the students were not made aware to look out for her and the school does not have any type of cameras or surveillance systems at the entrance by the pick-up/drop-off area in order to monitor the traffic in and out of the school grounds like other schools have in other parts of the country, what a shame!!! Had we had such a device, we would have been able to re-play it and perhaps seen a suspicious movement with my niece leaving the school grounds in a forced manner and identified who she left with in order to have something to go by. I strongly recommend that this would be something for high authorities to review and include in the school budget as soon as possible in order to increase the safety of our most precious investments (our children). It is such an inexpressive system for it not to be taken into consideration for approval. Instead of having a scenario where anyone could come and go as they please with these kids.

We found her text books from her 4th period class which she attended in the locker. We also found her 5th period text books in the locker. This indicates that she went back to her locker after her 4th but never went to 5th. Her purse was also in the locker with all of her IDs, which, I believe, indicates that she had not made any plans to run away or anything close to it. Obviously she was abducted right their at her locker during the switch of her classes. But the school has nothing to say or show.

The police Detective labeled it a runaway. This keeps the school covered and basically limits our ability to get assistance finding her. Why would an A+ Student, with SAT scores among the highest in the nation who is already working and enjoying life run away. Maybe someone did not want her graduating at the highest level in the school. What a cover up by this school and the detective to keep things on the down low for the school. Or maybe they did not really investigate it. I sent an email to the Pasco county school board, Florida's Governor bush, and others. I have not received any reply.

The School has 5 stars posted in the lobby. Truly, in my opinion, one star or zero stars is more in order.
