I've been to many ship museums, and this was among the worst. Far too many areas were roped off, and there was no signage to tell you what you were looking at in the areas that were open. The maintenance on the open areas was very poor. The sleeping quarters in particular were filthy.
If you love touring old WWII relics like I do, skip this one. It costs you $6 to park and $10 to get in. Definitely a waste of money.
Terrific Potential: A "Victory" ship, built in 1945, which is slowly being turned into a Merchant Marine Museum. $3 off with your Aquarium visit, and well worth the price.
The ship is undergoing some significant rennovation. Given some time, dollars, and the loving care that it currently is recieving, this is going to grow into a fabulous way to visit the simplier past of the Navy and sea-service.
The ship's spaces are mostly open for visit, from the cargo holds, to the engine room, to the crew spaces and pilot house. There still are a number of gun mounts installed - both 5 inch and 3 inch are forward and aft.
If you have the time, especially if you have any interest in exploring life at sea of the 40s, 50s, and 60s, visit this ship.
