If you would like to spend the afternoon at Riverwalk, it is a very beautiful area, and it is free except for the hourly parking garage . There is an awesome playground if you have children. Many people had their pets with them also. It is a nice area to just sit and watch .SONOs cafe is in the Museum Building, and had great service and food, but the thing to not to pass up is the Gelato.... Delicious!!!! They have indoor and outdoor seating :) If this review was only for the Art Museum itself I would have rated it AWFUL. Very few items, for the price of admission. I really didnt appreciate paying for the propaganda techniques of the gender confused on the displayed films. I would definately visit Riverwalk again, but next time I want to spend time enjoying beautiful, moving art... I will go to the Ringling Musuem :)

A nice collection of greek art, but every museum has greek art. Contemporary art is non existant. With so many working artists in the area, none are shown at this museum? I have talked to several locals and they all said that they dont show in this area, but send out to places like Miami. Thats too bad. I have lived in Tampa for a decade and really miss the arts. If any local artists read this, please respond and list any local venues that are good for contemporary art. Thanks.

The Tampa Museum of Art has a nice classics section, but where are the paintings? Maybe they are in storage... I enjoyed the Maurice Sendak special exhibition, but overall I expected more from a museum in Tampa.
