| About: | This restaurant is owned and operated by the same Tampa family that founded it two generations ago. Beautifully hand-painted tiles and intricate fretwork decorate the exterior of the restaurant, while the interior boasts a two-story atrium. Warm lighting and a sense of history combine to create an elegant and relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy authentic Spanish cuisine, such as paella, black beans and rice or traditional Spanish yellow rice and chicken. Share a pitcher of sangria while flamenco dancers provide entertainment. For "la cocina auténtica", Cubana or Colombiana, there's only one place in Ybor City. This restaurant has been around since 1905, and for very good reason.
We were married at home plate June 26,1950, prior to a baseball game. I was a member of the Tampa Smokers baseball team, which at that time was in the Florida International League. We had our wedding reception here in June 1950.The yellow rice and shrimp at that time was a feast. We returned in 1967 and found the same on the menu and as good as before. We intend to return in June 2010 for #60
This place will always be in our memories.
This is the most authentic spanish tapas restaurant I have found outside of Barcelona. The manager is from Spain and has brought depth and authenticity the the already substantial menu. The wines are tastefully selected and not out of reach financially. This is a great place that provides a pleasant and consistent experience.
