This is a terrific little community theatre. I have seen outstanding musicals and comedies here. I saw Greater Tuna here, too, and like the other reviewer did not like it much, but it is the only dud I have seen there in five years. The last show I saw was Neil Simon's Rumors, and it had me rolling in the aisle!
It seems they have changed the box office phone procedures too, I get straight through now, 9 times out of 10.
Very friendly place
Went there with the wife to try it out. We had tickets provided, so for free, we'll go.
Went to see "Greater Tuna", a comedy.
Called about the tickets and you need to leave a message. It seems nobody will answer the phone.
Phone call got returned and the lady was very helpful with us finding seats and suggesting where to sit, where to park, how to get there. Excellent.
We get there and the lobby is a quaint hodge-podge of furniture and guest mingling. Small snack / drink bar.
Get to our seats and wait out the introduction speech.
Well, let me tell you, I've heard the speeches about the cell phone, please donate, looking for volunteers, etc, but never have I heard the one about "if your neighbor's hearing aid starts to squeak, let them know about it". Whoa! Welcome to Clearwater, Florida!
The particular play was Greater Tuna. Started out slow, boring. I had a few laughs, but I don't think I would recommend it as a night out for anybody else other than my wife. We may give a different play another chance, but we'll see what comes up.
I gave this 3 stars because that's "Average". I don't know what an Average playhouse is about, but I was neither impressed nor disappointed.
