I was looking forward to going to this place since the other reviews had praised the food. I'm not much for deli products - I can make that sort of thing myself. I was on the hunt for pastry! The service at the pastry counter was polite and efficient. I haven't had good pastry in years - since I moved here from upstate NY, so I was looking forward to a treat. I was sorely disappointed. The eclairs were expensive - $3.00 each and not at all good - the pastry shell was soggy, the filling bland and the chocolate icing on top was so bitter as to be unpleasant as well as overwhelming the flavors of the custard and shell. The traditional cannoli didn't fare any better - the filling was an unpleasant mushroom color with the texture and taste of Playdoh. It had an almond flavor with an aftertaste (maybe they used alcohol??) that I found unpleasant. The cannoli was also on the pricey side - $2.50 each. I looked at the other pastries but just decided to try these two items - they were all very pretty but I'm glad I didn't buy and I won't have to worry about going back. The chocolate all looked very dark and from my experience with the eclair, probably bitter. I guess I have to go back to NY for the good stuff. Bella Napoli Bakery, I miss you!
This place have everything. I go in for capers and come out with a weeks worth of food, some prepared, some just authentic ingredients. For a true Italian, this store is a MUST!
Simply the best deli outsde of New York - Outstanding
