We just moved here and always wanted to go to one of the kitchy epicenters of Florida, it was cute--cheap many 2 for 1 admission coupons floating around. Yeah I know it needs a little work, but the place was there before anything else on that street. Go take a look, its cute and family friendly
what a waste...: "A Rainforest Information Center here has exhibits of some of the eerier critters, including snakes and other reptiles, spiders, and scorpions" ... lies, lies, lies, my friends! The part I was most looking forward to on this glorified tour of someone's nicely-landscaped back yard, did not even exist! And as far as wildlife presentations- would that have been the employee whom I encountered in the garden, squawking loudly at one of the captive, sad-looking parrots in their too-small enclosures? The same employee who, when questioned about the so-called "eerier critters", pointed out the cute little turtle bathing in the sun on a rock in a man-made pond. Also, inflation has affected the admission price, as it was $18 later (not the $14 which the ad proclaims online) that my father and I felt like the smell wafting over from the adjacent Carraba's was the most thrilling part of this Outdoor Adventure!
Sunken Gardens: In the middle of all that is urban is this treasure for nature and photo enthusiasts. If you visit the St. Pete area, don't hesitate to make this one of your stops.
