Excellent food and service! Great place to go for a buffet with many choices. Take out is excellent too! Comfortable atmosphere. Children welcome. Very willing to assist the customer if they have disabilities or need room for wheelchairs. Food is fresh and tasty! The seafood choices are excellent. Crab legs too!
This is by far the best asian buffet I have ever been to. Quick seating is available at any time. Plenty of clientel so the food stays fresh. They have a huge assortment of foods to try including sushi, crab legs, and even have a Teppanyaki-style grill so you can choose what you want to eat. This other person's comment sounded too unfair for the whole restaurant. How can you go to a place for so long and then trash it based on one night? I know that they can be a little stand-offish for special requests, but at $11.50 what can you expect? If you want good sushi in Lakeland, go to Gosh! or Spice Thai and Sushi. If you want to stuff your face with a great assortment of foods in a decent ambiance for cheap, then go to Ling's.
We Won't Be Back - FALSE ADVERTISING: We have been loyal patrons of Ling's Buffet since they opened back in 2002. What we loved most was the value of the items included in their all-you-can-eat buffet price. We had an experience tonight at Ling's that has changed our minds and we will not be back. My husband normally orders an order of assorted sashimi to go with his dinner. He was rudely told tonight that he could not have any sashimi. He could order a sushi roll or order sashimi served with rice. He tried to explain to the owner (who was making the sushi) that he didn't like rice and didn't want to be wasteful, so would she mind leaving the rice off? She told him that as of March 1st, they had changed their policy and if he didn't eat the rice served with the sashimi, she would charge him .40 per piece. My children also love sushi, and when I went to place an order for them, she did not even want to prepare it because she said we were just trying to "sneak" my husband more sushi. Keep in mind, this is an all-you-can-eat buffet, and one price for everything. She finally, and grudgingly, prepared my children's sushi, all the while talking to another man in another language while pointing at me as I stood there and waited for my order. When it came time to pay our bill, she had indeed charged my husband for four pieces of sushi. I confronted her about the charge (the rice had, after all, been eaten). She ended up removing the charge from my bill after I asked for an explanation. There was no sign posted and absolutely nothing in writing that said the buffet was all-you-can-eat except for the sushi bar. Furthermore, we have dined at Ling's and placed the exact same order for the past five years, at least once a month. I feel like my family was treated very poorly and what was supposed to be a relaxing family night out was marred by the bizarre and erratic behavior of the owner/sushi chef. If her sushi costs are responsible for her struggling restaurant, then she should not offer it at all. By sneaking in additional costs to her customers, she does nothing more than lose good customers by swindling them. Beware if you eat there. The restaurant is NOT the same as it was since it moved from the original building by the current Gold's Gym on US 98. Service and customer satisfaction have disappeared.
