Spent $4200 on body work and a complete stripdown and paint job on my Rio Red '95 Mustang Cobra. A month later I'm still having to take the car back to have things corrected. I was told that the PPG paint used and the process with the clearcoat was more technologically advanced and would result in an overall more chip resistant paintjob-----its amazing how QUICKLY this new paint has CHIPPED. They refused to color match a custom stripe on the hood unless I gave them the original code for the color (which I don't have or know). Refused to custom mount a specific spoiler which no other shop would have a problem doing (lazy?). The "SVT" and Ford oval emblems were not properly positioned on the trunk lid. The weather stripping where the windshield meets the roofline was very sloppily reinstalled and this area also had a large scrape/gouge that never should have been there if the paint were applied properly. Painting anything inside the trunk area is not part of the normal job they do, so they charge extra for it. I brought them a brand new trim panel and the factory correct fasteners for it----not only did they NOT use the fasteners I provided but when the SHOP OWNER removed his fasteners to install the ones I provided, he GOUGED the new trim panel. When I pointed this out to him, he flat out refused to replaced the panel and said he would "touch it up but will not replace it". These are just a few of the things that I had to take the car back 3 times for to get corrected after spending over $4000. When they say they will "take apart the car"----it means remove the spoiler, sideskirts, hood and bumpers--thats IT. Doors are not removed so jambs do not get done properly. Some original Ford parts were required; two brackets, an antenna mast and base and some fasteners totalling about $125. He charged me $200 for them. His "lifetime warranty" does not include chips because he "would go out of business if he had to repair every chip that came back to him" yet my paintjob has two chips in the front bumper and a major chip on the drivers front fender that occurred ONE MONTH after leaving his shop with the car. Beware of price increase attempts too; The first time he saw my car in person and had a chance to look it over and read the list of work to be done in addition to the full paint job, he quoted me $4000. Two weeks into the job, he jumped up to $4500. A month into the job (which was really 3 weeks into it because he started a week after I dropped off the car) he raised it up to $5000. Not cool for a guy in business for over 20 years to be off on his first estimate by 25%. Two points; first, I felt like this experience was titled, "Lets see how cheaply we can do the job because he may not notice the details anyway" and secondly, If you have a Ford do not go to him. He may have mustang and Shelby memoribilia hanging up but he's a Chevy guy at heart and will treat your Mustang as such. I would probably have had a better experience with Mikes Affordable Body on Recker highway in Winter Haven who quoted me $4500. Mikes shop went on haitus for a month and I was impatient so I went to Precision instead. That was probably my mistake. Overall I was accused by the owner of being too nitpicky and particular about the whole experience; hold on a second, didn't I earn that right when I handed him the $4200 in cash for this job?
