Another local place bites the dust, food was horrible and over priced, so again it's gone, cya.

I too miss the old Dwyers, which fit into a niche in our community that has not been filled since it changed over. We loved the high quality Irish comfort food, the good selection of fresh draft beers, the live music on weekends and the friendly atmosphere -- all offered at reasonable prices in a breathtakingly beautiful venue. As a little extra added on to all of that, there was a young chef in the kitchen who was allowed to do a nightly special -- usually good fresh fish or a nice cut of beef, imaginatively prepared with interesting, innovative sides. There was a very interesting selection of affordable world wines, both by the glass and by the bottle, to complement the food. We often took business clients to Dwyers for a nice lunch, and at dinner we would go to see what this exciting young chef had dreamed up for the night. Other people in town caught on to him as well, and soon, if you came too late, the kitchen had sold out of a fish special. Out of loyalty to Dwyers and the truly lovely space it inhabits, we gave the new Dwyers a try. Sorry. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. If I'm going to spend $100+ on dinner (before cocktails, appetizers, wine, dessert, tip, etc.), then I'll drive a bit down the road to Ruth's Cris, Chops, or on into Naples. We haven't tried the new tapas bar upstairs. Perhaps that will open Dwyers up to us again.

I am sad to say Dwyers no longer hosts traditional Irish food. The old menu, which I loved, is in the trash. In its place they have really expensive Euro fusion type food.

How can they still call it an Irish pub and restaurant? Why on Earth the owners would decide to hike up prices ($6 for a side of bearnaise sauce, $60 lobster plate) and hire a celebrity chef in hard economic times is beyond me.

I honestly wish them luck with Dwyers Mark 2. I shall miss the Dwyers Irish Pub and Restaurant.
