First of all lets be real.....this is a "Diner" in a very small town called "Alva". The one great thing about this place is that it is not one of your glitzy over priced restaurants in a bigger city but is more like eating dinner at your kitchen table if you grew up in the country. Second of all I have done tile work in many eateries from Port Royal in Naples to the river in Ft. Myers and ALL of them had rodents and roaches including the grocery stores (even the one's that look clean) so I do not let that aspect alone judge the restaurant. Everyone I have spoke with that have eaten there have told me that the food was good, affordable, and Huge portions. I having eaten breakfast there myself the other morning and found all of the above to be true except for the rodents and roaches.
Always cars there so thought we would try it, after waiting we were seated in a small very,, dirty diner type restaurant by a rushed waitres. Salad was sparse, the soup was good but cold, the meal was not a good cut of meat had a lot I mean a lot of fat and was not hot and the veggies were from a can. They cannot accept cards. So if you like canned cold food by a rushed waitres in a dirty restraurant this is a place for you.
Had breakfast there last week and will definitely go again. Atmosphere is charming downhome country. I felt like I was in Petticoat Junction or Green Acres. Oilcloth tablecloths, fast service, good food served HOT, large portions, Hot sauce and Honey on the tables. Grits were creamy, pancakes wer HUGE! All you need is one - its the size of a dinner plate. Coffee was good and steaming hot - everyone had a different cup with local merchant logo's on them. It's CASH ONLY!!! Clean bathrooms. Fast friendly service. Don't tell anyone of this find - because I don't want to wait in a long line!!
They open at 7 AM for breakfast - but they serve lunch and dinner as well! You will LOVE this place!!

Having lived in the area for over 30 years, and having eaten at the diner on many occasions, this review surprises me. It is clearly posted not only on the menu, but in several areas in the restaurant, that they only accept cash. I suppose, however, that these things do happen about as often as hit and runs. I have to wonder if this is written by someone who would allow themselves to become so distraught about a meal that they hit a person's car in the parking lot and had no intention of reporting it to the authorities. It is sad that this is their one experience, but as a whole I believe the diner to be decent food at excellent prices (mainly because they only accept cash (low overhead)).
Oh, and waitress is spelled with two s's, and if you're the customers who were at the small table in the front, you ate every bit of that prime rib.
