Dined at Maxwell's on a midweek evening in January and was not at all impressed. I had dined there many times before during previous trips to Naples, but it has gone downhill it seems. The service was slow and very unresponsive to requests. Food wasn't bad but wasn't good either. Considering the price I would have expected something more consistent with what I had experienced previously. When the check came and we presented our neighborhood discount card, they nickled and dimed us on the discount terms (which I am convinced they were incorrect about, but we let it go as the restaurant as the final say and the amount was trivial) so much we wish we hadn't presented it due to the embarrassment it caused. Hopefully we just caught them on an off night, but no plans to go back any time soon.
never again: We've been here three times. Never again, always bad service, filled with old people and way over priced. Bad service and the food is not the greatest. Cooks can't cook the meat at the right temp. Very unhappy every time we have went.
Maxwell's on the Bay, Naples, FL: On Valentine's Day 2004 my wife and I enjoyed a memorable house special entree of lobster thermidor. When we made our reservations for 2005 Valentine's Day dinner, on January 10, we asked if lobster thermidor would again be the evening special and we were told: "Not sure yet but it will be served to you and I am making that notation on your reservation right now."
