I went to this restaurant yesterday. I got the #9 Combination meal which consists of a burrito, enchilada, taco, and rice. My girlfriend got the taco salad. We both also shared a cheese dip.

It was okay. My beef in my food was VERY dry, the sauce on the burrito was very good, but, the food had NO spices AT all in it. It was boring. My girlfriend barely ate any of her meal because it tasted more bland than a piece of bread. The cheese dip was even bland too. I have had WAY better Mexican food at other Mexican restaurants.

Now onto the service. Our waitress came to take our drink order and then our food order but never showed up after we got our food. We sat there with empty glasses for 30 minutes. We ate all we could until our throats were too dry to eat anymore. Isn't it common sense to assume that if a person has been eating for more than 10 minutes and they hadn't gotten drinks since before you took their order, that they just might need a refill????

Last, after we had been sitting there looking very thirsty, she comes over and asks us if we need refills. Well, duh! We hadn't had anything to drink since we walked in the door! We made the mistake of not asking for our boxes and check then. We had our plates pushed to the side and obviously done and she left for another 15 minutes. HORRIBLE service! She was a nice girl but needs to be taught how to waitress. There was a male waiter serving the table next to us and he came back to his table 4 times in the amount of time we waited for refills! We wished we had gotten him! She really expected a tip too! I work to get paid and so should she.

The table next to us was very upset too because they were done and their waitress disappeared for 40 minutes before they had to ask someone to find her.

We finally went up to pay and the cashier lady looked at us and walked away because she was talking on her cell phone. She was not trying to hide it either because she came back to ring us up talking on her phone. How PROFESSIONAL is that? I have never been to a business that allows their employees to be rude like that!

Skip this place. There are plenty other Mexican restaurants with way better service and food!

I had just moved here from out of state and was looking for a good Mexican restaurant, but found a great one! La Esperanza has great drink specials (2 for $7 margaritas & 2 for $2.50 drafts). Everything from the salsa, queso, tamales, burritos and even the tacos are simply excellent and nothing but authentic Mexican cuisine. I have been back since the first visit and plan to keep going--I highly recommend this to anyone looking for real Mexican food!

I placed a to-go order and informed the girl on the phone of a serious allery to sour cream, she assured me she had checked it. I went home and started eating and all of a sudden I could not breath. Instead of remaking the order, they just covered it up with more food. I had to endure a very painful shot, swollen lips and throat. I asked 2 times for the owners name and was told both times "that is not allowed to be given out". It was pure luck I was able to get that shot so quick. Food allergies can kill. Maybe then they would care. Not only having to endure this, but the staff was very rude on top of it and I wouldn't recommend this restaraunt to anyone. I do have one question, that if they are on the "up & up", why the big secret on who the owner is?

If I had life-threatening food allergies, I would not be ordering take-out foods from restaurants. Even if they had been careful about the sour cream there is always a possibility that there might be other ingredients that may cross-react and cause these problems. I don't think that La Esperanza should be held liable for this. This restaurant has been praised by everyone so far.

I agree with jay. And if one was looking for takeout why on earth would you go to a Mexican restaurant with a "serious allergy" to sour cream. This is not La Esperanza's problem.

i can understand were your coming from i had found a few peanut chips in my oreo blizzard at dairy queen and i myself am allergic to peanuts or oil and ne thing with nuts but i to had it my mouth and my toungue start swelling but thank goodeness i had medication to take care of it. all i can really comment is that yes indeed its like mcdonalds post check your order or chick filas caption that they cook with peanut oil in my case although you want to have it your way like burger king says but this mexican restaurant tries there best to accomadate there custumors and is pretty good and quite filling.

Perhaps you should scrutinize your food a little better if your problem is so severe. We must take responsibility for our own actions instead of trying to place blame for our own inattention to such important details.
