I thought they could be trusted. Granted, I had a very strange situation. My mother and I bought a brand new CR-V. She was feeling ill, but everybody said not to worry. They rushed us through the paperwork and sent us on our way. We were very happy with the CR-V, NO COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE VEHICLE. Sadly, Mom passed away just a month after. It was a severe shock to the family. The bills from American Honda Finance came in, and I kept paying them. I called Greg, sales manager, and supposedly friend of the family, and he told me not to worry. Just keep paying the bills and they would make sure the title information was changed over when the final payment was made. I TRUSTED THEM. I continued to pay, $5000.00 down payment, $482.00 per month. Sometime in May of 2006, I received a call from American Honda Finance, they learned that my mother had passed away. They told me that they only had a contract with her and that the vehicle was in some sort of default and that they were coming to repossess it. NO PAYMENTS WERE EVER MISSED. I called Greg at Port Charlotte Honda, and he said, "Don't worry about it, he would take care of it, and Don't worry."
Once again, I TRUSTED THEM.
On June 8th, I woke up, went outside, and found the CR-W was missing. I called the police. After several hours I was informed that the car was reposed.
I called Port Charlotte Honda and had to leave a message for Greg, he never till this day has returned my calls. I called American Honda Finance and they refused to talk to me becasue they did not have a contract in my name.
From the time I picked up the vehicle on November 19, 2004 till the time they STOLE it from me, I had paid over $14158.86 plus taxes, insurance, and title.
I was told there was nothing I could do. I am so far in the hole because of this that I cannot even find out if I have legal recourse, but like they said, they did not have a contract in my name.
Because we trusted them, we believed what they said, I believed Greg, my hands are tied, I'm out over $15,000.00 dollars, and they have treated me like they do not remember us and that I do not exist.
People, Listen to me please, if you want to buy a Honda or Volkswagen, do so, just do not buy it at Port Charlotte Honda / Volkswagen. They cannot be trusted, you cannot believe a thing they say, and if there is ever a problem, they will not stand by you even when they told you they would.
This is the truth, this is what happened to my family, and this is what the person who used to be our next door neighbor allowed to happen to us.
