We have camped at Cayo Costa State Park, just south of Englewood, Gasparilla etc. every New Years for about 5 years. After a week of camping we were looking for a place to eat, and Barnacle Bill's was the first place that caught our eye. I have a keen sense about these kind of places, and I was right on with BB. The service was pleasant and efficient (this was around 1:30 pm on Sat, Jan 3) our party of eight was seated almost immediately. The food was all great - I had the enormous fish fry, which I quickly asked for a box and boxed half of before I even began. Those who had burgers were quite pleased with the huge 3/4 pound creations. We will make Barnacle Bill's a regular part of our holiday vacation tradition.
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsOk, we have been to Barnacle Bill's twice and were very happy with the food and service both times. The first time we went was a Friday night so we had to have the fish fry, it did not disappoint. The serving was huge and it was wonderful, the fish, the fries...all great! We started with the conch fritters both times, they are very good and so is the sauce. We have ordered the bacon cheeseburger, you have to eat it with a fork and knife because it is so big but it is so tasty. Tonight the three of us had the Reuben...yum, the Barnacle Bills Hot Steak Sandwich...WOW, and the french onion soup...very good.
If you go on Friday nights you may have a wait because they are really busy, but once you eat there you will know why. Tonight (Saturday) we went at about 7:00pm and got right in.
To complete the Barnacle Bills experience you have to ask for Mary. She is the only waitress we have had so far, tonight we asked for her. She is sassy, knows her job well and she will not steer you wrong.
We will go back to Barnacle Bill's soon because there are other items on the menu we would like to try.
