Well today we ventured to irates cove. It was not there. the building is still there but it is not open and it is very run down. I would suggest not doing as it was kind of a long ride as we live in Siesta Key. So in conclusion pirates cove was not there but just south about 5 miles on 41 there is a really nice put-put place called Smugglers Cove.

This place is great for parties, and there is a lot to do! They have an arcade, a little prize area, go karts, water bumpers, a mini golf course, a laser tag area, and batting cages, not to mention food.

Most of the arcade games are pretty fun, it is just a shame that non of them offer tickets except for the "lucky" type games that don't require any skill you just pump coins into there. Of course, the prizes aren't super amazing, just stuffed animals and small stuff like candy and little trinkets like yoyos.

Another awesome feature is the laser tag area, one of the main reasons to go to Pirates Cove. It has an extremely large area to play laser tag, and about 5 or 6(mabye more) lasertag vests/gun for lots of people to play. It has cool scenery like cars placed everywhere and a large tower with little "peepholes" for shooting and warding off enemies, good for "king of the hill" style gameplay.

A lot of the action takes place outside. They pretty large fun go-kart track for people to drive around in. This is one of the most fun parts about Pirates Cove. They have about 12 go karts, so you can have pretty large races. They have single go karts(only available to kids over 9) and cars for adults to drive the kids around in. The "passenger" go karts have a little steering wheel for the passenger(most of the time your kid) so they can pretend they are driving. These vehicles also go a bit slower.

There is also a pretty cool minigolf course and some batting cages, both welcome additions to Pirates Cove.

Unfourtunatly, though the water bumpers is great fun, it is occasionaly very dirty looking and scares people off. But, if you are actually playing in it it is crystal clear, so you will never actually be swimming around and see gunk in there. They clean it most of the time anyway.

This place is good for parties, too. Aside from all of the fun to be had, there is also a special little zone for kids to have a party in and little television screens placed around the Cove that display the birthday kids name.

The food is standard "stadium" food, hot dogs, burgers, nachos, stuff like that.

The place isn't without its problems though. Occasionaly some games are broken and they don't have any "Out of Order" signs so you can lose your tokens(the staff will get them out though.) Occasionaly, violent teenagers will get on the go-kart track and will ram everyone like heck, even yourself. They once ran over one of the "over-seers" who help people stuck on the track. It is best to avoid them. Like mentioned before, the Water-Bumpers area is sometimes very unclean and not accesible. Also, while not much of an annoyance, sometimes the place is packed and other times it is deserted(which can be kinda weird)

A warning to wary moms is that there is a strip club nearby. A fence seperates the 2 things, but as long as you try not to pass it your children wont be questioning. There isn't loud music and the strip club shouldn't be a problem, so dont let that scare you off either.

In the end, I would definatly recommend Pirates Cove for anybody looking for some great fun. Pirates Cove is probably the greatest place around for kids to have fun, besides Smugglers Cove, and I suggest you take your kids to Pirates Cove if you are planning a Birthday party.
