My wife and I are in our late 20's and have an 2-year-old son. Weâve been in quite a few churches, so we tend to be somewhat careful in choosing a church for our family. We first visited Grace Baptist Church late last summer and since then have made Grace Baptist Church our permanent church family.
One of the first things we noticed about Grace Baptist Church during our initial visit was the people. We didnât encounter an air of indifference or superiority, but rather; immediate acceptance, interest, and care. About a third of the people were young families with small children and another third were retirees (admiring the young kids as if they were their own grandchildren). Like sitting in oneâs own living room, we felt safe and comfortable.
The facilities were beautiful. Parking was close and easy. The grounds were well kept. The rooms were clean and organized. The nursery and child-care facility were staffed with a helpful team of volunteers, all boasting background checks and safety training. A tagging system ensured that my wife would be the only one permitted to pick up our child.
The beautiful 1,100-seat auditorium gave us a feeling of reverence, but at the same time we didnât feel lost in the crowd. The live music was an eclectic mix between the modern and ancient. The music was well orchestrated, expressive, and themed appropriately to the service. The instruments included everything from a guitar and drums to a 1927 4-manual, 32-rank Wurlitzer theater pipe organ.
After the music the churchâs teaching pastor, Dave Reynolds, took a passage from the Bible and spent the next 30 minutes dissecting its meaning and helping us apply it to our lives. His preaching style was friendly and helpful. It was refreshingly down-to-earth, authentic, and direct.
Upon meeting the rest of the staff, I found them to be extremely competent--committed to serving Jesus Christ, the church, and the community.
All-in-all, I found Grace Baptist Church to be a group of people in whom God was doing a wonderful work. Their commitment to the truth of God, coupled with a desire to take that truth to their neighbors and the world, set them apart from other churches I have encountered over the years. Whether you are a seasoned Christian, or just want a place to safely explore and learn about the person of Jesus, Grace Baptist Church might just be the place for you. Check it out!
