Pass on the dinner if you want to see the show; pass on the show if you expect a performance above the pedestrian.
Buffet is above average (3 stars); but the shows are very good, particularly the musicals (Evita was excellent!), due, in large part, I think, to the higher quality of actors, actresses and production staff than in your average dinner theater (5 stars).
Typical Dinner Theatre fare: The cuisine at the Golden Apple Dinenr Theatre is prepared for the largely senior populatoin of Sarasota--nothing too fancy, nothing too spicy or exotic. There is nothing offensive about the food, but nothing to remember, either. Typical fare such as chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, served as a buffet.
Remember, you are going to see the show, not enjoy haute cuisine!
